Buddy’s Seafood Market was started in the late eighties by the Wood family of Port St. Joe Florida. Buddy Wood sold the shrimp from his 4th (now 5th) generation wholesale business in St. Joe “Wood’s Fisheries” (http://woodsfisheries.com/) and his wife; Mrs. Linda would cook up her recipes on the other side of the market. It didn’t take long for the business to take off and become a favorite spot for locals and want-to-be-locals alike. Was it the high quality of Buddy’s seafood that brought people back time and time again or was it the amazing southern flavor in Mrs. Linda’s recipes. There is an old saying that goes, “never argue with a woman in the kitchen” so we can leave it at that or you can come in and decide for yourself.
The Wood’s handed Buddy’s Seafood Market down to their son Edward and his wife Paula in the mid nineties and Buddy went back to the wholesale business full time. Ed and Paula kept doing what Buddy and Mrs. Linda started, with some new additions like a popular commercial on Beach TV and Buddy’s Seafood Market found more and more people enjoying the flavor. Not long after, the wholesale business was calling on Edward and he answered taking on the running of Wood’s Fisheries. Ed and Paula left for St. Joe and left Buddy’s Seafood Market in the hands of a close friend Mr. Brian Cooper.
Since the late nineties Brian has owned and operated Buddy’s Seafood Market the same way it always has been. Wood’s FisheriesWe invite you to come and experience "the best steamed shrimp on the beach".
